In October of 2004, under the proposal of Dr. Zengjiang Cheng, a forum named Tongxieyi that means free exchange of ideas was founded in Beijing. The primary purpose was to gather top experts in the field for exchange of ideas on new drug research and innovation. Since 2004 Tongxieyi Forum has organized more than 60 large-scale activities in various provinces and cities in China. The topics covered nearly all aspects of new drug research and development, as well as technical innovation. Hundreds of Chinese and oversea academicians, experts of Thousands People Plan, and FDA and CFDA review experts have been invited to participate in meetings organized by Tongxieyi Forum to present and discuss novel ideas, the development path of new drugs, and the new drug development trend, covering topics on generic drugs, new drugs, pharmaceutical research, clinical trials, registration regulations, R&D management, transaction cooperation, and investment of venture capitals. Hundreds and thousands professionals attended these meetings, and they came from domestic pharmaceutical companies, R&D centers and investment entities of all sizes.In the pharmaceutical industry, Tongxieyi Forum has been considered an important value sharing platform and spirit home for the Chinese pharmaceutical elites. It has become one of the important ideology origins of new drug development in China. With the accumulation of profound expert resources Tongxieyi Forum has emerged to be a large wisdom tank of Chinese new drug innovation and investment. Business development activities, antibody thematic activities, regulatory topics, and chemical reactions and engineering processes held at Tongxieyi Forum have become influential brand forum activities in the pharmaceutical industry.In 2012 Tongxieyi New Drug Elite Club was founded. The intention of this club was to gather visionary and passionate new drug development elites, to explore the paths and business models of new drug research and development, and to promote the healthy development of Chinese medical and pharmaceutical industries. At the present time the 19 council members of the club are the leaders in the Chinese innovative drug industry, and more than 40 enterprise members in Tongxieyi are mainly from outstanding domestic public listed pharmaceutical companies and innovative biotechnology companies.In August of 2016 Tongxieyi BD club was founded. The mission of this club is to train high-end Chinese business elites and to promote the collaborations of business and technologies between the domestic and international pharmaceutical companies. Since then a good number of BD training activities have been organized.In December of 2016 the Chinese Pharmaceutical Chemistry Reaction and Process Expert Committee was founded by Tongxieyi Forum. The 11 members include 4 foreign and Chinese academicians and 7 international top scientists in the field of pharmaceutical chemistry. Through 3 meetings organized by Tongxieyi Forum it has effectively upgraded the China chemical technology of crude drugs.In October of 2017, Tongxieyi Forum in Nanjing invited 30 CMC experts, including quite a few foreign experts, to be Tongxieyi professors for teaching at Tongxieyi classes. Tongxieyi College of Pharmacy was then founded. Tongxieyi has enthusiastically been gathering world's top pharmaceutical experts to provide training classes for Chinese pharmaceutical professionals and talents, and contributes to the upgrade of the Chinese pharmaceutical industries by providing these intellectual supports.An online college of Tongxieyi is also in preparation.Tongxieyi South Yangtze River center and South China center have been founded, respectively, in Suzhou and Guangzhou, and more regional activities will be carried out in the future. The activities in Tongxieyi Forum are jointly undertaken by Tongxieyi Beijing Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zitan Management Consulting Co., Ltd.
