Prof. Gu is a chief physician of internal medicine, and tutor of postgraduate student in Huashan Hospital, Fudan University. Graduated from Shanghai Medical University in 1988, she completed her clinical residency training and became an attending physician in Huashan Hospital. In 1996, she did the fellowship in Hospital Hôtel-Dieu, Paris, France. In 1999, she got MSc on clinical epidemiology in Gadjah Mada University, Indonesia. Then she got PhD degree in Fudan University. Prof. Gu got diploma on hospital management in China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) in 2006. The same year she finished China Hospital Executive Education Program in Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH), USA. She attended a hospital administration program in School of Medicine, Lund University, Sweden in 2007. She was certified by Harvard Medical School for completing the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program in 2017. Prof. Gu has visited many overseas hospitals and medical schools, such as UCLA and NYP in USA, APHP in France, The University of Sydney and The University of Melbourne Medical School, etc., some she visited as a visiting scholar, among those are Kettering Health Network in USA, Kitano Hospital, Kyoto University in Japan.

Prof. Gu has about thirty years experience on clinical, management, and research work. More than 30 articles have been published and some of them have been presented on the international scientific meetings. Her two research achievements were certified by Shanghai Science & Technology Committee. She got the third degree of Shanghai Medical Science & Technology Award in 2006 and Shanghai Municipal Science & Technology Progress Award in 2007. She is the initiator and chairwoman of The Society of International Medicine, Shanghai Medical Association, Regional Collaborative Committee of International Medicine in China and Premium Healthcare International Forum. Recently, she was elected as the Chairwoman of the Second Council of the Chapter of Nordic Countries, SORSA.

Prof. Gu has greatly dedicated into the development of Huashan Worldwide Medical Center and The Society of International Medicine, and she is one of the key initiators who established current center management system. And ever since, she has also contributed to the integration of internal and external collaboration to the full expansion on clinical activity, research and education in premium healthcare. Therefore, not only in the professional expertise but also the service excellence, the center has become the leading medical facility for overseas patients in China.
