Sermon Kwan is a Senior Advisor at Bank of Singapore. An accomplished banker with 40 years of banking experience, Sermon has worked in various global financial institutions including Bank of America, Citibank and ING in different banking segments including Consumer, Commercial, Corporate and Private Banking.
Sermon Kwan joined ING Asia Private Bank (IAPB) as Head of Greater China in 2001 and was part of the management team at IAPB that moved over to Bank of Singapore. Sermon served Bank of Singapore with great distinction as Chief Executive of Bank of Singapore Hong Kong Branch and Global Market Head for Greater China Region, a role he held till March 2018, expanding the franchise significantly, adding highly-qualified professionals and enhancing the platform.
He also championed close collaborations with OCBC Wing Hang Bank, OCBC Wing Hang China and Bank of Ningbo to drive growth in the Greater China region and ensure that clients enjoy access to a full suite of commercial banking services, in addition to private banking services. In 2016, he played a pivotal role in the swift and seamless integration of the newly-acquired Barclays’ wealth and investment business in Singapore and Hong Kong with Bank of Singapore.
His international banking experience includes working in countries covering Canada, U.S., Taiwan, Hong Kong, China and Korea. Sermon has held senior management positions in the private banking business since 1992, through which he has built solid and experienced teams serving private clients in Asia and across the globe.
Sermon holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting from The University of Calgary, Canada.
