Ying is the President and General Manager of Russell Investment Management (Shanghai), overseeing the firm’s strategic growth initiatives in China. In this role, she is responsible for Russell Investments’ strategic business plan in China, identifying new business initiatives, and establishing strategic alliance with selected partners, with an ultimate objective of achieving targeted business growth in China. She is driving the firm’s investment process in the local market.
Ying has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry.
Ying has recently joined Russell Investments from Mercer, where she led the firm’s Wealth business in China. Over the decade she spent at Mercer, Ying also acted as the lead consultant and relationship manager for Mainland-based and cross-border clients including sovereign wealth funds, insurance companies, banks, wealth management platforms, and other financial intermediaries and asset owners. Ying also spent part of her tenure based in Hong Kong as a dedicated manager researcher and the lead researcher for Chinese equities.
Prior to this, she was a Senior Analyst at Children’s Medical Center, Boston. Her responsibility was to provide full support to the investment committee of the company’s endowment fund and pension fund. Earlier in her career, Ying was a fixed income analyst with Xinhua Finance and a foreign exchange trader with the Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi.
Ying received her M.A. degree in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University and B.A. Degree in International Finance from Fudan University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
