Leo Wong is Managing Director of Asia Pacific for RGAX, the global business innovation accelerator and transformation engine of Reinsurance Group of America, Incorporated (NYSE:RGA). Based in Shanghai, Leo leads a team that spans from Beijing to Hong Kong; Tokyo to Mumbai. Passionate about startups and technology, he is responsible for investing in and incubating RGAX’s ventures in AI, blockchain, healthcare and big data to transform the future of the insurance industry. A seasoned entrepreneur and investor, Leo joined RGAX with nearly 20 years of experience in early- to growth stage technology ventures in the U.S. and China. As an entrepreneur in Silicon Valley, he raised more than $25 million of venture capital in two companies, one of which was acquired and the other is still growing. As a venture investor, his previous portfolios included investments in fintech, sensors, and autonomous driving. Leo also has extensive experience leading corporate transformations at large international corporations. Prior to joining RGAX, he led innovation, corporate strategy and business development at Bosch (China) Investments and Siemens in Shanghai, Beijing and Munich. In these positions, he designed and implemented various joint-venture and innovation strategies. In addition, he led go-to-market launches and secured investments in a wide range of technological breakthroughs, including autonomous driving, artificial intelligence, sensors and in-vitro diagnostics technologies. Leo holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. He currently sits on the board as a director or observer in portfolio companies such as BitSpark (Hong Kong, China), QED-it (Tel-Aviv, Israel), and XiaoBang (Beijing, China).
