Sammy Wong was born in Hong Kong, He holds a B.Eng. degree with 1st class of honour in Computer Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and graduated with a Master degree in Transport Policy and Planning from the University of Hong Kong. He is a Fellow of the China Hong Kong Railway Institution and a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistic and Transport in HK. He had served the UITP as committee member of the Metro Operations Sub-Committee as well as the Light Rail Committee.

Mr. Wong joined MTR in 1995. He has a wide range of management experience in the railway operation management field. He took up the position of Head of Operating and managed the western part of MTR network in HK comprises metro, light rail and bus services.  He has been the  General Manager of MTR (Shenzhen) since July 2017.
