YUKSEL GORMEZ is a senior economist at the School of Central Banking in Istanbul of the Turkish Central Bank. He was the economic counsellor in Tokyo and Beijing from 2010 to 2014. He holds an MBA from University of Exeter and a PhD from City University of London. He wrote an e-money research paper for Bank of Finland during his scholarship in 2000 and the World Gold Council in London offered him a post-doctoral project on digital gold from March to June 2001. Recently, he has written two books; one on China and one on Japan. His current research agenda covers both theoretical and practical aspects of operational central banking including impact of innovative payment systems on transmission mechanism.
