Nantong, located at the confluence of China's eastern coastline and the Yangtze River, north of the mouth of the Yangtze River, across the river from Shanghai, the only city in Jiangsu with a deep-water coastal shoreline along the river, is a national historical and cultural city, a national civilized city, and one of the first 14 coastal port cities opened to the outside world. It joined the 'trillion club' in 2020 and ranked 23rd among large and medium-sized cities in China. In 2022, the region has achieved a GDP of 167.69 billion yuan and a general public budget revenue of 13.35 billion yuan, both ranking first in Nantong City, and its comprehensive strength ranking first in the prefecture-level central urban area of the Yangtze River Delta. National strategies such as the 'Belt and Road', the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta converge and superimpose in Nantong, as the only city in the north wing of the Yangtze River Delta in Shanghai's '1+8' metropoli-tan area, it is making every effort to build an important fulcrum for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta and an important growth pole for the high-quality development of Jiangsu Province, it has become one of the most investment-worthy central urban areas in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration.
